Baby Brandon + Mommy Jessica

How many times in this blog can I use the word BEAUTIFUL??? This was the second shoot of the day after Aya's Maternity (see previous post). Both baby Brandon and mommy Jessica were perfectly photogenic and made my job quite easy. I promised some pics in a day or two- so here you go Jessica...just one for tonight. It's just about midnight, (yes, I am NOCTURNAL), I often do my best editing work in the wee hours of the morning. I'm beat. I'll be adding more soon!

Aya's Maternity = Beautiful

BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, please schedule days in advance. No walk-ins. Monday through Saturday. We will accept one sitting a day, late afternoon at 5:00 p.m. or Saturdays before 10:00am. If you can't make that time- call me and perhaps we can arrange something. Be prepared for your session to last approx. 1-1/2 hours. Coverage is for up to 6 people. If you want to include additional people/siblings in the picture there is a $10 fee per person, (please notify ahead of time).

Approximately 30-50 images will be taken of your family in various poses and combinations. We will capture your family's memories in photos of mom and dad together, children together and individually. Images will be posted to an on-line viewing gallery for 15 days. Choose 1 image for your FREE 16x20 enlargement. You may share this link with family and friends. Orders for prints are available as well as a high-res cd of all images or purchase files individually. Normal Photo Session fees begin at $150-$250 and covers the photographers time and talent, an on-line photo gallery for proof viewing and print credit.

Photo Visions Hawaii ~The Studio~

Okay everyone, it's been about 2 months since we've moved back to Laie from Maui, the Valley Isle and we've been unpacking, getting settled and working on setting up our home-based studio. Just thought I'd share a quick sneak peak of the space - still in progress. I am ordering some large canvas prints and various other images for display to replace Photo Visions "older" images from a decade ago. Our style has evolved to appeal to a broader range of clients- from the traditional to the contemporary and everywhere in between! Stay tuned for more images of when we actually put some pictures on the wall.

Ooooh, I almost forgot to mention, we are in the designing phase of a super cool project for outdoor shoots going on at our hale involving legal graffiti and various other backgrounds. When all projects are done we'll host an open house! How does it look so far???

Welcome Baby Kealana!

Isn't she beautiful? Daughter number four to Paoa and Alika, Kealana made her grand entrance on lucky 8/8/08. Dad is a fireman and also serves in the military. These captures were made on 8/21/08 just two days before daddy Alika was deployed for the 3rd time to Irag. I admire the courage of this beautiful family and their story of personal endurance as well as Alika's dedication to our country and sacrifice for our freedom. NEGLECTED!!! Why the blog has not received any love for awhile...

Well...I have some explaining to do don't I? If you've noticed that I haven't blogged in months, THIS is the reason WHY!!!
Now that I'm feeling better and have "recovered" from severe morning sickness, I had the awesome opportunity to be on the other side of the camera for my personal maternity session. Photographers Chris and Lynn Jaska from Vancouver, B.C. were in Hawaii this past month and I was honored to have been photographed by this talented husband and wife photography team.

Mulberries!

This is a peek into our backyard at this time of the year. It's mulberry time in the country! Purple stained fingers and clothes... The more hands to pick-the merrier! My grandma taught me how to make types of jam from the fruit in our yard. So mulberry jam it is! Although our family's favorite is yummy white guava jam, (short on the guavas this year). The proteas and various other blooms are the natural decor that we enjoy daily.

Although I was raised on Oahu's North Shore, my roots are from Maui. We are lucky to have about a dozen family burial plots in our backyard, as some long-time Hawaiian families do in various rural areas. I feel lucky to be able to have a part of my heritage close at heart. My country bumpkins, fresh Kula air, floral bouquets, fruity goodness, and our smiling dogs- that's upcountry living. Life is good. ; )

Aaron & Kim

I shot Aaron and Kim's Bridal session in Makena prior to their Feb. 23rd mainland wedding. They had a fun and lively session and came away with a lot of awesome images to show everyone at their reception. After an hour of shooting and then waiting for sunset shots we had finished the session... or so I thought. Driving home I saw the bright purple neon lights at a nearby shopping center and asked Aaron and Kim if they were up for more picture taking. They were game so we pulled up into the parking lot and shot a bunch of cool images to add to their bridal collection. Beautiful images + happy people! Congratulations Aaron and Kim!

Happy Valentines Day! Lucky & In Love!

Jennifer and Tim are not only a beautiful couple- their love and passion for one another definitely shows! I love it when couples are willing to do whatever you suggest..something different...non-traditional. We shot on the beach, then got shave-ice (that's what we call Snow cones in Hawaii) and did some evening shots next to the store-fronts. I loved how the images turned out!
